My Novel Pt. 3 {Snippets + Writing Recap}

Hello hello friends! Recently I’ve been making major progress on my book, and I’ve finally decided on a title. I’ve upped by daily word count and fixed a big problem that I was having, so things are finally rolling!

Let’s first start with the recap!

1. So first the problem that I was having a few weeks ago, (that gave me a total writing slump) was that when I was planning I had made one of the characters way to old for his age. And it just wasn’t making much sense. I couldn’t just cut him either because the plot is somewhat revolving around him, and I didn’t want to totally restructure the plot, and besides I liked the idea of having this character. I finally fixed the problem by just fixing the scenes as the plot was fine, it was just his character that didn’t make sense.

No one mentioned that the eggs were a bit cold, or that bacon was burned almost black.

2. The next update is that during my writing slump, I totally forgot about my goal of writing 10,000 words this month. And good quality words too. So with 2000 words written and 6 days till the end of the month, I started. I’ve never written more than 1500 words in a day before, until last Saturday that is when I did just about 2500. Then I intended to chunk out another 3000 on Sunday. But surprise! I spent the entire day Sunday with my sister and mom, visiting people. I had auditions for a play on Monday so I didn’t want additional stress, even though I ended up writing 1700 words that day too. Anyway. The point is, that if I work hard I think I can do it. And I just checked I have approximately 3600 words to write, so that’s awesome!

“Hopefully there’s no video cameras in this part of the barn.” He whispered in her ear….. Never would she ever forget that moment.

3. I changed the plot a little bit. Surprise, I’ve changed the plot a few times now. XD But really this is just fulfilling my vision for the book, so that’s good! Really it wasn’t a major thing, really I just added more to that part and made it make more sense!

“Mom, do we really have to go to Kohls? What’s wrong with Urban Outfitters or Forever 21?” Nikki sighed, she’d been trying to avoid back to school shopping until she had found a job.

4. My word count is pretty much soaring! I love the way things in general are going. I’m feeling a little less motivated today, but I’m still going to kick-butt and get writing after I’m done with working on this post!

Her stomach hurt, and her legs were shaking, like that time when she’d tried out for the school play in 6th grade and totally messed up her audition, but still got in anyway because they hadn’t had enough people audition. Melanie almost laughed out loud at that thought.

5. I have only 2500 more words to write! YEAH!!! I’m going to take a screenshot + a selfie when I’m done. XD

“That’s a lot of people to apologize to. Stink.” She thought.

Also, once I’m finished writing, and editing draft #1 I will be recruiting alpha readers. And probably some beta readers too, eventually.

My goal presently is to have draft #1 done by the end of September, then be finished editing by the first week December.

So anyway. Are you ready to hear the book’s title. (I think, it could change)

Introducing…..

Perfect…Or Not.

Do not copy this title. IT IS MMIIINNNEEE (mine).

I thought of this because the book is about Melanie realizing that she’s not perfect, and that it’s OK not to be perfect.

So anyway, this post is getting too long, and I need to get back to writing.
