What I Do For My Bible Time | Fall 2019

Hey guys! When I first started doing a more intentional and organized “bible quiet time” a few months ago, I was clueless as to what to do. Thank goodness my Bible is actually a teen study Bible and they had a few great personal Bible study ideas. I took some of those and combined them with a few other ideas I’d seen. I’ve really been enjoying this time, and thought I’d give you a little encouragement to start your own, or keep a current one going!

I usually start by pulling out my bullet journal and doing my daily activities in there. It helps me get into the mood for being quiet. Then I’ll write down my prayers for the day.

Next I pull out my Bible and being by reading through whatever chapter/s that I’m currently reading.

After I read through the text once or twice I take out my blue highlighter and highlight any of Jesus’ direct words and also any promises.

Next I take out my yellow highlighter and highlight any repetition of words or phrases. I also will highlight prayers.

Once I’ve highlighted any of Jesus’ direct words, any promises, word repetition and prayers, I’ll take out my pink highlighter and highlight anything that seems to be speaking to me especially or anything I want to remember for later. I’ll often journal during this time as well. πŸ˜‰

I usually close my Bible and say a few closing prayers. And that’s pretty much it.

I know I haven’t post a lot of posts like this before, but it is something I’d like to talk about a little more in the coming months. Guys, staying rooted in God’s word is seriously SO IMPORTANT. I know after the first few weeks of it you may not be seeing a drastic change or something, but the change is there if you’re ready to receive it. I know personally that even though I’m still a newbie at this, I’ve noticed some change in my own life. Often I’ll remember verses that I’ve read and highlighted at times when I need them.

So anyway, all that being said, get out your Bible and read it. There are so many Bible study ideas that you can do by yourself or you could get a group of friends together and do. Just do something.

If you’re looking for a simple way to start reading the Bible, start with the book of Proverbs. There are 31 chapters, so since today is the 5th, read chapter 5 today and chapter 6 tomorrow and so on. Highlight or journal one verse that sticks out to you.

If you don’t have a physical Bible then you can go to an online (free!!) Bible site. I love Bible Gateway, because they have pretty much any translation, and it’s all completely free.

Anyway, my prayer is that this was encouraging to you guys. And don’t forget to enter the giveaway AND the photography contest! I’m so excited to see who wins! πŸ˜€
