10 Shopping Tips & Tricks

Hey guys! I don’t know about you, but I love shopping! But let’s be real, it can get expensive, and you can easily spend $$$ on just a few pieces of clothing. In today’s post I’ll be sharing 10 of my best tips & tricks for saving money while shopping!

1. Use Piggy (or a similar service) to help you find coupons.

This is so helpful! It doesn’t work on every online store, but it does work on most of the big stores, and you can request to have sites added!

2. Add to your cart and wait for a coupon code.

This is another super helpful tip! Make sure you are signed in/have your email entered, add an item to your cart and wait a few days for a coupon code. I’ve seen some for up to 30% off, which is a BIG DEAl if you’re purchasing something expensive.

3. Wait for big sale days and shop online.

Guys, Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Week are coming up soon. Unless you really enjoy the atmosphere, don’t go into the stores. Check online. Often the stores have the same deals online as they do in-store and you don’t have to miss Thanksgiving dinner to get a great deal.

4. Shop at resale or discount stores.

Places like TJMaxx, Marshalls, Ross, Plateo’s Closet and ThredUp are all either resale or discount stores. Basically they’re new or gently used (often brand name) items that are still on trend, just for a discounted price than at the mall.

5. Don’t overlook the clearance rack.

I’ve found sooo many good things on clearance racks. It’s a great way to find quality clothing at a discounted price.

6. Shop off-season.

This kind of relates to the last point, and while shopping off-season isn’t always the most fun (who wants to buy fall boots when it’s finally starting to get warm out) it can be SUPER helpful. Oftentimes stores will try to get rid of their seasonal styles by putting them on huge sales. If you enjoy shopping for trends, try to use this technique on more classic items, because what was trendy this year, may not be next year.

7. Take care of your clothes.

Ok, so this isn’t really a shopping tip. But guys, it’s super important! Oftentimes avoiding the dryer can make clothing last much longer. As can hanging clothes up in your closet rather than letting them lie around everywhere.

8. Plan before you shop.

Don’t go shopping with the intention of buying “fall clothes” because you’ll end up with a bunch of cute clothes that you have no need for. Instead look at what’s already in your closet and make a list, first based off what need, then add what you want.

9. Don’t buy something just because it’s on sale.

Oftentimes I’ll buy things just because they’re on sale. Let me tell you: If you aren’t going to wear something, don’t buy it, EVEN IF it’s on sale. Make sure you love the item, before you love the price.

10. Invest in clothes that you can wear year-round.

You can wear a basic tee and jeans pretty much any time of year. Sure in the winter you’ll want a cardigan or a sweatshirt and in the summer you’ll want a pair of sandals, but other than that, you’re good. Invest in the clothing that you can wear year-round and spend less money on fast fashion, current trends and seasonal pieces.

I hope that these tips & tricks are helpful for you guys, especially now that it’s fall (I just went shopping and sweaters seem to keep getting more expensive by the year πŸ€‘ lol) and the holiday season is approaching!

Also, if you’d like to save some money on scrunchies, head over to my shop, the 20% off ends tonight. AND the new scrunchies are now listed! πŸ˜€

  1. I loved all these tips! My Mom and I buy “high end” stuff, it’s just the way we are. But we both love coupons, especially with clothes. And I think Mom has a magnet connected to clearance racks; she loves them. And am I the only one that notices that is sometimes where you find the best stuff? Nice job! ❀
