Goals For Summer 2019

Hey guys! I’ve seen these “goals for summer” type posts going around the internet the past few weeks, and even though it’s not officially summer yet, I decided to hop on the trend. I’d love to hear some of your summer plans in the comments below. πŸ™‚

Switch To Self-Hosted Blogging Platform. I was intending to do this last fall, but then some things happened and I wasn’t able to. This summer I’m really hoping to switch over to WordPress.org for a more professional blog.

Focus On Making Posts The Best They Can Be. I really want to put more effort into making relevant posts that are high-quality and well-thought-out this summer. Sometimes I think I could be doing better with the content I put out on here, and I want to improve now that I have more time.

Keep Up With The Blogs I Follow. I follow quite a few blogs and sometimes I don’t really keep up with all of the posts and such. I really try to read all the posts that the bloggers I follow create, but it’s definitely a challenge sometimes.

Schedule Posts Further In Advance. I really want to get to a place where my posts are schedule 2-3 weeks in advance. The thing is, it’s so much easier to just have posts go out on time, then scrambling to finish them at the last minute. I think if I get ahead then I’ll be able to stay ahead. The thing is, I just have to get there first. *shakes head*

Figure Out My Camera Setting Better. Guys, I’ve had my camera for almost 2 years, and I still can’t figure out half of the settings. *gasps* I’m hoping to take a course on how to use my camera, which will hopefully improve the quality of my photos.

Learn How To Fully Use Photoshop. I really need to work on this. I only know a few of the settings in Photoshop right now and it’s starting to bug me that I don’t know more of it. I do design all my graphics on Photoshop, but I want to be able to do more creative editing on my photos and such, instead of just designing graphics.

Get Better At Using My Tripod / Self Timer. Yes, my sister is (usually) quite eager to take pictures of me, but I would like to have the skill of taking pictures of myself. I already have a little remote thing, so this shouldn’t be too hard to accomplish.

Read More Christian Motivational Books. This summer I’m really hoping to read more motivational books, rather than just home decorating magazines. I’d love some recommendations. πŸ™‚

Train For A Few 5k’s + Mud Run. My dad, my sister and I were going to do a mud run this spring, but then we weren’t able to end up doing it, so we moved the race day to early October. I’m hoping to start running and possibly do a few 5k’s before the actual race.

Grow Some Succulents. My poor last succulent died *coughs*, but I’m hoping to do some more research and buy a few over the summer. I love having plants and such, I’m just bad a taking care of them.

Start Making ATC’s Again. I really do love making ATC’s, but I haven’t made any in so long and it’s something I really want to get back to. Another project I’m hoping to do this summer is a lighted ATC / Polaroid print wall (or at least a little bit of a wall) Here is an example.

Improve My Hand-Lettering. This is something I really want to work on this summer. I love making art, and hand-lettering things, I just don’t do it enough to be as good as I’d like to be.

And that sort of wraps up my goals for this summer. What are some of you guys’ plans for this summer? I’d love to hear in the comments below! πŸ™‚

  1. Hannah, if you ever need any help with camera-related questions, I am definitely here if you need me! Also let’s see, Christian motivational books? One of these is business-related, but my top picks are:

Just Do Something by Kevin DeYoung (Seriously one of the BEST BOOKS EVER and super easy to read)
    Business Boutique by Christy Wright
    168 Hours by Laura Vanderkam

Another book I really found useful was How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie, but it wasn’t Christian. Or motivational. Heh.

  2. Awesome goals Hannah! I love the ATC wall idea. I recommend One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp. I didn’t agree with everything she said, but it was a really motivating and beautifully written book.

  3. Those are great goals. Glad you’re wanting to focus more on your blogs, you’re so great at it. Have fun this summer!

P.S. This is a great, fun, blog article. Do you mind if I use this idea and write a summer goals blog myself? I will give you credit in my blog if you’d like.

  4. Yeah, I can say from experience that once you get ahead with scheduled posts it is not very hard to keep up with it! πŸ™‚ I am SUPER bad at keeping up with any blogs that my friends don’t run. XD Ohh! A 5k sounds really fun! I have killed many a succulent on accident. XD You have some great goals this summer! πŸ˜€ Awesome post! πŸ™‚

  5. Nice summer goals! I have a couple, including going en pointe, getting a split down, knitting my first pair of socks, and improving my stamina. Thanks for sharing and good luck!

  6. I love these kinds of posts, Hannah! Best wishes for completing your goals! Ooh, you need book suggestions? *raises hand* πŸ˜› Let’s see. My top one would be Do Hard Things by Alex and Brett Harris, which is a great inspirational Christian book for teenagers. I think you’d really like it if you haven’t read it yet!
