Behind The Blog | What You Don’t See

Have you ever wondered what’s it’s like to be a blogger? Or maybe you’re a blogger yourself and just looking for some relatable content? Today’s post is all about the pros and cons of blogging. What I’ve found super easy and effective, but also what I’ve struggled with.

Pros / Benefits of Blogging

Meeting New People – Guys, this has to be one of my favorite parts of blogging! I have met so many wonderful blogging friends through blogging, and I love reading your blogs and of course your lovely comments. ❤

Collaborating With Brands – This has been something I’ve just gotten into recently, but I am SO grateful for all of the brands I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with! It’s absolutely a dream come true!

Opportunity To Influence Others – One of my favorite things ever is the ability to inspire people. I love when you guys say I’ve helped you or I’ve inspired you, my favorite posts are ones where you guys leave feeling motivated, encouraged and inspired!

Improving Skills – Since I started blogging, my people skills have improved, my photography skills have improved and I’ve really figured out what I love to do (and also what I don’t necessarily love doing, XD)

Having A Creative Outlet – Having a blog is a wonderful way to express yourself through writing, photography, and design. I love experimenting with different designs.

Unique Opportunities – Along with meeting new people, collaborating with brands, and everything else I’ve listed above, blogging has given me a lot of unique and special opportunities that I wouldn’t be able to have otherwise.

Cons / Struggles of Blogging

Technical Difficulties – The SD card won’t load the pictures, the wifi isn’t working, it rains so you can’t do the photoshoot, the computer needs updated. Almost every day there seems to be some little issue that just slows down my productivity and makes it so much harder to get stuff done.

Lack of Inspiration – This is something that frequently happens to me. I’ll get into these moods where I all I want to do is create good quality content, then suddenly I’m struggling to crank out posts. It’s totally real guys!

Creating Unique & Original Content – I love being creative and trying to find unique and original content for you guys, but I will admit that it definitely can be a huge struggle.

Creating Relevant Content – This is another tricky one, it can be really difficult to create unique, original content, let alone make it relevant to your target audience. My audience is mainly teen girls and women 13-21, so I try to create content that they will find engaging. Another thing I’d like to mention is that you absolutely MUST have a niche. Remember if you are creating content for everyone, you are creating content for nobody.

Costs – Thanks to WordPress.com, blogging is relatively inexpensive for a handful of themes, and a free domain. Don’t forget though, there is always the costs of camera’s, camera equipment, graphic design programs, etc.

Time & Effort – I’ll be honest: Blogging takes a ton of time and effort. A good blog post takes me at least 3+ hrs. to create. Between taking and editing the photos, outlining and writing the post and adding tags & keywords, it takes quite a bit of time. Then there’s always the updates, replying to comments, checking out other people’s blogs – Guys, blogging is a full time job! XD

And that pretty much concludes the post! I hope you guys enjoyed! What are some of your blogging struggles/benefits? What are some of your favorite parts of blogging? What did you find relatable? Was learning more about blogging interest? Make sure to let me know in the comments!

  2. I’ve always wondered what all goes on ‘behind the scenes’ of blogging and what it takes to be a blogger. I don’t blog, but it sounds a fun idea. Unfortunately I don’t think I’d have the time to do it. But I’m fine just reading blogs 🙂 , and your’s is great!
