Chat Over Green Tea | Episode 1

Hey guys! I’ve seen sooo many other bloggers do little rants/discussions like this, and decided to try it out for myself. I love sharing my thoughts on things and doing debates with people on them. Today’s topic is: Imaginative or Practical.

So here’s today’s cafe:

Cute isn’t it? And today’s green tea drink.

So I’ve always wondered if it’s better to be practical or imaginative.
I’ve always had this thing where I think if I’m imaginative then I’ll be disappointed, but if I’m practical, then life won’t be any fun. Relatable?

I guess the target is somewhere in the middle. You don’t want to be too practical, because then there won’t be any excitement to things, but you also don’t want to be over the top imaginative at the same time.

I also think it depends on the job you are doing. For example, if you are a brain surgeon then you can’t imagine that cutting a little further won’t cause a problem. Whereas, if you are an actor/actress, you can improvise and be creative.

In other words, you have to be realistic & honest, but you also have to be creative and have fun.

I don’t necessarily think that either is bad in itself, but I think that sometimes if we aren’t careful we can take either to far.

We don’t want to be a person who is a downer and does nothing with our life. But at the same time we don’t want to be an over excited crazy person who says they are going to have 20 million followers on Instagram after they’ve been posting for a week.

So as I said earlier: You have to hit for the middle target. Both are good, but not if taken too far in either direction.

So what are your thoughts? Do you agree or disagree with me? (all thoughts are welcome) I really want to here you guys!

    1. I disagree with that because I’m an introvert and very VERY imaginative (just ask my mom). I daydream a lot and sometimes blurt out ideas or stories I’ve imagined, but most of the time I express them better on paper or prefer to keep them to myself. Extrovert or introvert does not determine whether one is practical or not. I have friends who are extroverted and very practical, and my dad is too. It just depends on what type of extrovert or introvert a person is.

Sorry about that, but I’m kind of a personality-type-nut and I’ve studied the Myers-Briggs theory a lot and I can’t help but try to set people straight when they believe the stereotypes or other false ideas about the personality types.

  1. This was interesting. I don’t think that people who are practical CAN’T be imaginative at the same time. For example, someone who is practical can still have ideas for new crafts or stories. But when it comes to one or the other I am definitely imaginative and very impractical, lol.

  2. Ooh, this is what I needed! I think that balancing creativity and practicality if very important in one’s life because we are a creation (God’s) that creates, (painting…drawing…building, etc.) I think that’s super important and fun. 💜 I also think practicality is important because feelings change and reason does not.
Nice job with this, loved it! 😊 Keep it comin’! 👍🏼
