What is your fate?

Have you ever thought beyond tomorrow, next week, next month, next year? Have you ever been worried about what might happen in the future, if you’ll end up happy, or even if it’ll rain tomorrow? If you’ve ever thought anything like this, then read on, this post is for you.

So first of all what even is fate? 

Let’s unpack it! According to the dictionary fate is:

Fate

noun

1. The development of events beyond a person’s control, regarded as determined by a supernatural power.

I like this definition, but I would like to add that fate is not determined by a supernatural power. It is determined by your Creator, God.
Make sense?

Great, let’s get moving.

Have you ever read a book?

If so, then you’ve read a story. You read about a character who, at the beginning of the book was one place, and at the end is another place.

Note: The character didn’t really have to move to another city, or walk along a path, or finish a project. They really just had to get somewhere, physically, mentally, spiritually, whatever.

The character couldn’t control his or her story. In other words they couldn’t control their fate. 

Think about that. The character couldn’t write their story.

You can’t write your own story. You can’t write your fate.

And if you think about it. You really don’t want to. Why?

Because God already did.

You don’t have to worry if it will rain tomorrow, or if you’ll end up happy, or whatever you worry about!

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?
And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

Matthew 6:25-34

Wow! That entire verse just told us that we don’t have to worry. God’s got us covered! He’s got our fate all figured out!

The God of all creation, created us, you and me, with a purpose and a plan!

Aren’t those words just so comforting? To know that you were created with a purpose and a plan, to know that you were created with so much more than what’s on the outside. What you look like, what other people see.

God created a unique story, just for you. A unique fate.

So why worry?

People want to know everything. It’s part of human nature. We’ve learned from our parents and their parents and their parents and their parents, all the way back down to Adam and Eve in the garden.

Adam and Eve didn’t realize that God was in control of their fate.

Or if they did, the certainly weren’t thinking about it when they ate the apple. They wanted to be like God, they wanted to know everything.

Adam and Eve passed down the fear of being different from God down to their children and to their children and to their children and so on.

It’s a learned behavior.

But we can be the people who trust God with our life, with our fate.

What about plans?

I personally love planning. I would love a GPS that would just take me wherever I needed to go. I would keep it and treasure it FOREVER

But I can’t have it, and maybe I wouldn’t even want it, most likely I’d actually be super embarrassed that my plans weren’t as great as the fate that God has intended for me.

Plans are subject to change. Fate isn’t.

God doesn’t change, and he’s the one who created our fate.

We do change. (if you want proof look at your baby pictures XD ) And we are the ones who come up with plans.

Now don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying that it’s bad to make plans. Nothing like it.

It’s good to have a plan.

What? Read on.

But be prepared for that plan to change.

If we didn’t have plans (or at least for me) we’d probably spend the entire amount of time being lazy, watching movies, sleeping and eating whenever and wherever we wanted to.

As I said above: It’s good to have a plan. But be prepared for that plan to change.

For example when you get sick, your plans are probably going to change. When there’s a thunderstorm on the day of the soccer game, your plans are going to change.

Aren’t you sort of glad that plans change sometimes? I mean who wants to go somewhere when there barfing or who wants to get hit by lightning. Not me.

The same thing goes with life.

Our God designed fate, is much better than our plan for our lives.

Maybe your plan is to marry your neighbor Bob. But Bob’s plan is different and he wants to marry Bobita instead of you. But you can’t get married to someone else, because it’s your on plan to marry Bob.

See how that could get complicated?

If everyone was making their own fate, our world would be a terrible place to live in. Why? Because most likely your fate would include other people, and other people wouldn’t want to be that person in your fate. Look what happened in the example above.

God’s got you covered. You don’t have to worry whether you’ll marry Bob, or Bobita, or whoever. You don’t have to worry if it’s gonna thunderstorm on the soccer game.

God’s got Bob and Bobita and that soccer game covered. He’s got everybody and everything covered.

You’ve got a reason to be here, a God designed reason.

So what am I supposed to do?

God didn’t design us to sit around all day.

He designed us to have fun, be a good example, serve others, be generous with what we’ve been given.

God wants us to enjoy life.

However, He does tell us that in order to enjoy what He’s given us, we need to obey Him, and honor him.

Honoring God will bring you true happiness.

And no, I don’t have the rulebook all set out, with a detailed list of rules that you must obey.

If you are questioning right and wrong, read the Bible. There’s even many free versions online if you don’t own your own. 🙂

Here is one verse that sort of serves as a little guideline:

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable-if anything is excellent or praiseworthy-think about such things.

Philippians 4:8

I hope all of this makes sense, at least a little.

I also wanted to say that I’m not a bible theologian or anything. Honestly, I’m just a normal 13-year-old girl, that gets most of her ideas late at night, when she should be sleeping. XD But I do know one thing that is 100% certain: God loves you. And He has everything figured out for you and your life. If you need proof then look at Matthew 6:25-34
